Wow, John Denver provided the soundtrack of my teenage angst and your post reminded me how much I loved his music. I did not know about the “We Are the World” snub...how unfair that was. Thanks for highlighting the career of one of my favorites!

Thanks for your comments, Deb. Similar experience. Hard to hear the WATW story. He gave us so much of himself in his music and taught us we should respect nature. Too many have not listened to his warnings. 🌲

one of my favorite songs. meaningful lyrics, impassioned singing, and super hot guitar licks! One of John Denver's best.

Another great song which like so many of his best works got such little airtime. Thanks Louise for bringing them to the surface again.

Simple lyrics with a deep meaning, aren’t they.

Though I really admired his sincerity and writing prowess, now that you mention it, he was not very "heady," but definitely earthy. He was great at conveying simple truths. Over the years I've had probably a dozen people after performances say that my music and I reminded them of John Denver. It was always taken as a huge complement.

Wow, that IS a complement. Mark, I just looked you up on YouTube/FB... You're GOOD! I love the song "Us and Them - A metaphor." Would you allow me to cover it in an upcoming article? How about a short interview? Email me at socialissuesinsong@g mail... and let's talk.
