I always learn something about life from Cat's newsletters. Cat has a wonderful way of seeing things from a different perspective. Cat draws our attention to what is important in life and talks about philosophy (哲学) in a way that is easy to understand. I highly recommend this Substack! Please leave crunchy treats. 🍤
Tanya writes, "I originally set out to learn 12 languages in 12 months, but now I’m not so sure anymore what I’m doing here." Her experiences learning languages are important. Her experiences in the middle of a war zone are even more so.
For students of English: Look for Cecilia's bedtimes stories. She reads well-known stories like Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland! It's fun to listen to and great for developing your listening skills. For native/near-native speakers: Cecilia writes about her garden and how-tos, but she also writes about the challenges of being in a new environment and culture, and how to move forward in life.
Mmerikani finds some fascinating quotes that really make you think. Also a great place to practice your Swahili (or pick up a few new words)!
For native-level readers of English, this is an exquisite Substack. The language and descriptions are luscious, and the photography is calming. I highly recommend Susie's posts.
Untranslatable is a GREAT place to learn new words from a variety of languages. The essays clearly show how you would use the words in certain situations. I always learn something new when I read these essays! 👍🏽
