Oh Louise, your question couldn't be more poignant this evening as I console my heartbroken son over the inevitable loss of his first love... my very emotional answer is education doesn't prepare children for the realities that lay before them at all, how can it when there is nothing in any of the obligatory text books that teaches of the trials and tribulations we all have to face at one moment or another.

Sending healing thoughts to your son. No, education at school does not prepare us for life. LIFE teaches us in the process of living it. Everything we have lived through so far has been to prepare us for this moment. We just build on each moment, good or bad, easy or challenging, with the help of those around us (and people half way around the world). x

Thank you Louise, I have just dropped him, and his pale ghostly face at the bus stop, he insisted on being brave bless his gentle heart... I often ask myself if our life here in isolation is good for him. My daughter has much tougher armour, but he is like me, a sensitive gentle soul who always believes in the inherent goodness of others, will learn the hard way, no doubt just as I did and we cannot protect them for ever can we, much as we might try, we can, as you say only do our best to help and prepare...

whether we are close or indeed, half way around the world! Bless you dear lady for your love xx

I often think life is sometimes hard…. But then I remember what @iamcat wrote:

“Cat not sure if life is hard, Cat think life is soft. Soft like human skin, or coat of Cat. Soft like butterfly wing. Life so soft, easy to receive bruise, easy to get hurt.” ….especially in son’s case. I want to wrap him in a gentle hug and tell him to always believe in the inherent goodness of others. If not, what else do we have left? x
