I live here in France because my grandmother was French and it was my dream from a very young age… I moved here, eventually, at the age of forty and though I don’t regret the decision to do so, far from it in fact, I do still feel like a stranger despite my bloodline.

I often wonder, and this really can be said for any westernized country now, or at least many, how many people actually originate from the country they live in from the very beginning of their family? I know many who have lived here for perhaps just two generations, they come from Portugal or Morocco and yet still they see me as a stranger whose grandmothers line was French as far back as history will allow.

Wow! That's wonderful that you were able to move there. France is a beautiful country. Been there many times. Because it has human beings, there are people you like and others you put up with.

I first moved to Japan in '85, then to Spain after that, and then back to Japan. Because these countries also have human beings, I have found some I like and others..., well, people are people wherever you go.

Good point about most everyone being from somewhere else. If you go back far enough, I'm guessing you're right. How long does it take for a person to be "from" there? In my case, never, I suppose. That's ok. This is still home. x

This is what I think too Louise, regardless of origin, if it feels like home it’s good enough. And as you say, people are people, some are likable others less so… that’s just life! X
