It is such a shame that certain insecure control freaks feel threatened by the harmless and ignore the existential threats that lurk right around the corner or are only a three-hour missile ride away. On a positive note, think about the changes we've seen in the overall acceptance of gay/ lesbian individuals compared to when Harvey Milk lived. So many steps forward and yet there are miles to go.
Thanks for your astute observation, Mark. Agreed. And, as you point out, we have made great strides. Education and personal contact have made the difference, I believe. Even here in Japan, attitudes are changing!
Thanks for asking, Mark. I'm fine, though we felt the major quake and several M5 aftershocks quite clearly where I live. Are you familiar with Shimizu Akira (https://hige.substack.com/)? He's in the same prefecture, but thankfully, there was no damage here.
As for the JAL accident, that was most unfortunate. The details are slowly coming out.

That is good to hear. Sorry you've all had such a rough week there, in a couple ways. Were you effected by the earthquakes where you're living??

I'm glad you weren't in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm not familiar with Shimizu Akira but will check him out. Thanks.
I just clicked the link - and Shimizu definitely knows how to capture engaging and new perspectives.
@Louise Haynes Thanks for reminding us of such powerful stories.
