Louise you do important work here, I imagine you were very touched to hear from someone showing empathy not only for all you write about but for all the, what must be often heartbreaking, work and research you do to continue… I too really appreciate every word! X
Susie, thank you so much for your kind comments and your support.
Yes, I was touched at his words. It's difficult to know what to do in the world today. We think that one little action can't make that much difference. But it can serve to inspire others.
It is wonderful to hear that these articles are useful to others. And yes, it's hard at times to read about the atrocities that have happened. I'm currently reading "Bloodlands: Europe between Hitler and Stalin" for background on an upcoming song. Yikes. I can only take that in small doses. I wonder how humans can be so cruel. Then I open another book such as "Serve the People: Making Asian America in the Long Sixties" that tells personal stories of Asian Americans, their contributions, the discrimination and persecution they experienced and yet managed to overcome in many ways.
It's so important to remember that there are those who came before us and those who will follow. It's a proud, if often painful, lineage.
Thanks for what you do, Louise.
Indeed it is, Diana. I have so much respect for the people, named and unnamed, in these songs and admire their strength.
Thank YOU for reading!
Always a pleasure, Louise.

Human beings certainly run the gamut, don't they.
