I consider myself spiritual rather than religious. Too many horrific things have been done in the name of religion …which ever one you choose.

You’ve tackled such a huge and difficult subject with such eloquent and understanding words here Louise… the absolute truth is religion scares me. Devout religion especially!

As you say, if we could only focus on the goodnesses and forget all the badness perhaps the world will be a better place, but, and I may have said this before, I believe all the time there is religion there will be war. 😔

Could be, Susie. It’s all in how the beliefs or teachings are manipulated and used for a certain purpose. In Japanese, there’s a phrase, “tsugou ga ii”, meaning choose “what’s convenient for you”. Even if it’s not religious dogma, humans tend to justify their actions with convenient reasons.
