It's so wonderful that you do this. Effective, no doubt!
Perhaps not for your students but I think all of us living in late-stage capitalism should listen and learn from the lyrics of Eat Your Young. Have you heard it?
Thank you for this, Nadine. First time I’ve heard it. Yes, a bit difficult to write about the lyrics in particular or place it in one particular timeframe, but it’s a song to that makes you…. what, squirm? Some of the YouTube comments are good. Will add it to the list.
Rather than uncomfortable, his comforting that somebody put words to something that we see all the time anyway. That said I do hope it's uncomfortable for the people who perpetuate this system.
Do you think we will ever see a 'final pledge of peace' Louise? I wish for it so... an end to all the wars and cruelty that cost such heartbreak and loss, wouldn't that be something!
That is indeed a song made more sad by the music...
I send love and peace to you this Friday morning. 💛x
Looking at human history, in all honesty, I don’t think we will, Susie. If humans were more like all the other members of the animal kingdom, we wouldn’t be killing each other. Even though the odds are against us in that final pledge of peace, that doesn’t mean we can give up trying. For each sheep, cat, dog, cow, whale, hummingbird moth, dolphin and child on this tiny planet, there is at least one thing we can do to move forward. And whatever that thing is is what we must do.
