A song from the Spanish Civil War, "Ay Carmela", about Republicans vs Nationalists, foreign aid for some, lack of it for others. Battle of the Ebro. #英検2級 #TOEIC #CEFRB1
Franco was another leader we covered in one of my college projects last year Louise, he must have been one of the worlds longest ruling dictators? Sadly I missed many of the lessons, history not being high on the list of important subjects where my work is involved, so I have gaps in my knowledge.
I believe the history professor even used the same song you have.
Yes, he was in power for a long, long time, from the end of the war in 1939 until his death in 1975. There are so many songs from the war period and also after, the songs of resistance. Many are on YouTube, for example, the album “Spain in My Heart - Songs of the Spanish Civil War”. It helps to understand the background when you listen (hence, my articles). I’ve covered 9 of the so far, but there are many more. “Ay Carmela” is quite well-known, so I’m not surprised you might have heard it before.
Hugs to you and all your furries/fluffies, too! xx

Weekend hugs to you and mouse xx
